Friend Anniversary

Today is a very special day. A year ago I bonded with an amazing girl who I will forever call my friend. I miss my study abroad in so many ways - and one of them is spending 24/7 with one of my favorite people.

It all started with a picture. Kyra and I officially started our friendship when we bonded over being the only two people in our group with umbrellas to protect us from the sun. It seems pretty silly to carry an umbrella in the 100 degree Turkish sun - but we both didn't want to get burned. I didn't realize it then, but this started a life-long friendship. I don't know what I would do without Kyra in my life now. She is honestly one of the most kindest, wisest, beautiful, spiritual, and loving person on this plant. I love her so much and I am so grateful to have her as an example in my life.

It's crazy looking back at these pictures, if you want to read about this day a year ago, click here.

Kyra and I at the Temple of St. John in Ephesus, Turkey. It was a spur-of-the-moment picture because we were the "umbrella girls," and wanted to document the only two adults with umbrellas. Because of this picture, we hung out the whole day.

At the Virgin Mary's House, Ephesus, Turkey. Do you want to know a secret? One of the wishes I mentioned a year ago was that I would make a really good friend on the trip. At this point, I had been feeling homesick and lonely, and I just wanted someone I could feel close with. Call it a coincidence, but I really believe that the Virgin Mary blessed me with my wish. I was definitely blessed to bond with such an awesome girl.

Umbrella girls again! This is Artemis' Temple, Ephesus, Turkey.

And because we had spent the whole day together, we decided to go shopping together! This is where we talked about stuff (I can't even remember what) and became good friends. This picture is of a Peace Hand in Kusadasi, Turkey.

Here's to many more years of being friends Kyra! I know that we were both supposed to go on this study abroad for a reason, thank you so much for wanting to take a picture with me. I love you so much and I'm so grateful for your friendship!
