Skirt Making With Grandma

A couple of months ago I found this skirt tutorial on Pinterest (why does my life center on Pinterest?). I loved it so much that I desperately searched all over for a lace skirt to buy. No name-brand stores carried anything like this, so I determined that I would have to make my own.

Luckily for me, I have an amazing grandma who can sew just about anything. The skirt tutorial is where I got my idea, but we did not use the tutorial instructions. Instead, my sassy grandma did it, "her way," which (I think) turned out much better.

With my busy schedule I could only visit grandma once a week. So, two months, three orders to Hong Kong, 6 yards of lace, and lots of fun conversations later, we produced this lovely skirt:

Sewing the lace on, layer-by-layer.

The finished product with grandma! It turned out amazing. I secretly think she un-stiched everything I did and re-stiched it to make it look professional.

My outfit for church today. I got lots of compliments! I'm not good at posing for photos, haha.

More importantly, I enjoyed the time I spent with my grandma. She has a lot of wisdom and funny stories to tell. I love her so much and I'm so glad my grandma taught me how to sew. I will be finding more sewing projects to do with her! I love you grandma!
